Dolores "Dee" Calabrese

Dolores J. Calabrese, age 85, at peace June 1st. She grew up in Chicago with her father James Hanely, a hard working tavern owner, her mother Doris Hanley, a loving housewife, and her siblings Edward Hanley and June Hansen (Ted), who she adored. She was proud of her Irish heritage and enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood. She became the mother to three sons, Frank Jr., Kurt, and Nick. Along with them she is survived by Kurt & Angela's children, Salvatore (Lauren), Samantha (Harrison), and Kirsten as well as Frank's children, Kelly (Lucas) and Anthony. Not only was she a devoted Nana, but also a great-grandma to Alexa, Luca, and Wesley, as well as a cousin, aunt, and friend to many. She had an eye for fashion, a passion for cooking, and could solve any crossword puzzle you put in front of her, as long as she had a Cherry Coca-Cola in hand. As a Nana, she attended endless school events, dance recitals, sports games, and birthday celebrations. She could always be counted on and continuously had a positive outlook on life. She was loved tremendously and will be missed dearly. A Celebration Mass to honor the life of Dolores will be held on Saturday, June 17th, at 10:00 am, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, River Forest. Cremation is private.
