Diana Gaffney
Donohoe
Dec 13, 1944 — May 19, 2025
Diana Gaffney Donohoe, a beacon of love and creativity, passed away peacefully of natural causes on May 19, 2025, at the age of 80, in Chicago, IL. Born on December 13, 1944, in Newark, NJ, she was the quintessential Jersey Girl whose kind-hearted nature, love of music, and effusive spirit left a lasting impression on everyone she encountered.
Known affectionately to most who loved her as "Dee Dee," she devoted her life to her family, her home, and her passions for decorating and antiques. She took great joy in transforming spaces into warm, inviting havens that reflected the beauty she saw in the world. A dedicated homemaker, Diana also shared her talents with the community as a long-time manager of the Chester Carousel antiques store where her eye for beauty and detail was appreciated by all who entered. Diana's home and garden were testaments to her talent, and she found great pleasure in sharing this with her family and friends.
She is survived by her brother, William Gaffney; sister, Joan Quigley; her sons, Timothy, Mark, Christopher, and Matthew and her daughters-in-law Joy and Carmen. Her legacy continues to live on through her cherished grandchildren, who were the recipients of her endless pampering and affection. She reunites with her beloved Dan, her brother Robert, and her parents Helen and Thomas in Heaven and will look down lovingly on her legacy of joy, song, and laughter.
Diana will be profoundly missed, but the love, laughter and generosity she spread throughout her life will remain as a lasting tribute to her extraordinary life. Dee Dee always told her family "I love you more than you will ever know." On behalf of her younger siblings, sons, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, grandchildren, friends far and wide, and everyone whose lives she touched, we reply softly... "We KNEW, Dee Dee. We ALL knew."
