Debra Diane Setzer, 67, of Tinley Park, Illinois passed away suddenly on 8/24/24 at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Debra was born in Tacoma, WA to her parents William "Bill" Leatham and Annie "Liz" Gibbs. Debra traveled the US with her family for her father's job with the Boeing company. She was an avid chess player and enjoyed competitions. She was a part of her high school's poetry group and published poetry in their periodicals. Debra graduated from Western Hills High School of Fort Worth, TX in 1975. After graduation, she joined the United States Air Force where she served her country overseas as a Telecommunications Operator achieving the rank of Sgt.
Debra was previously married to Richard H. Setzer and became a devoted mother to three children: Joshua, Rebecca, and Abigail. She adored being a Sunday school teacher at the Washington Heights Baptist Church of Utah. Debra raised her children with a love of books, adventure, and good food. She always tried to make sure holidays were special and kept the magic alive for her family. In her later years, she was an avid supporter of the arts and enjoyed museums, theater productions, and painting.
Debra is joining her parents Bill and Liz and her two brothers Larry Leatham and Ronald Leatham in heaven. Debra leaves behind her children: Joshua Setzer and his wife Leah, Rebecca Setzer, and Abigail Setzer.
