Obituary

Dean A. Grass Jr., known affectionately to all as Dean, embarked on his final joyride on December 11, 2023, at the age of 56, in Midlothian, IL. Born on July 3, 1967, in Beverly, Dean was the kind of guy who could turn a wrench and a bad day with equal skill, a master auto mechanic who knew the ins and outs of an engine like the back of his hand.

Dean's laughter was as infectious as a viral cat video. His early years at St. Barnabas and Marist High School were peppered with pranks and puns, paving the way for a man who never lost his youthful zest. After high school, he shifted gears and revved up his education at Lincoln Tech, where he honed his mechanical prowess and his knack for turning car talk into comedy.

The Grass family tree lost a sturdy branch with Dean's passing. He now joins the high-octane pit crew in the sky alongside his parents, Dean A. Grass Sr. and Judy A. Grass, his beloved wife Barb, and his sister Angela. Left to carry on his legacy of laughter are his brothers, Thomas and Joseph Grass, and his sister, Gina Hardesty. His Nieces- Mishelle and Dana. Nephews -Kyler and Jaike, as well as great nephew Maveric, all of whom he could spin around his finger with his wit and charm.

Dean's work life was a testament to his love for all things automotive. His hands were perpetually stained with grease, a badge of honor for a man who could troubleshoot a transmission as easily as he could a friend's woes. After hours, his local tavern was the main stage where he could crack jokes and brighten the room.

But Dean was more than just a mechanic with a toolbox full of punchlines. He was a maestro of the mundane, turning everyday encounters into episodes of laughter. His interests were as eclectic as his toolbox, from the roar of cars to the roar of rock concerts. Dean could shoot pool and play darts with the best of them, always ready with a quip that was sure to score more points than his game.

Generous, thoughtful, and kind—these were the words that best described Dean, but they don't quite capture the full horsepower of his character. He was the kind of guy who'd lend you his last spark plug or give you the shirt off his back, even if it was a bit grease-stained.

Dean's life was a symphony of snickers; a ballad of belly laughs. He never took life too seriously, and he had a knack for helping others lighten their loads with a well-timed jest or a playful jab. His presence was a comfort, his humor a balm, and his departure leaves a void that will be filled with the echo of his laughter.

As the curtain falls on Dean's final act, let's not say goodbye but rather, "Catch you later," because a guy like Dean never really leaves; he just takes his show on the road. The memories he's left behind are as enduring as his favorite rock anthems and as cherished as a classic car.

May Dean rest peacefully with his heavenly family! And let's take comfort in knowing that they have been reunited.
