Dean Raymond
Clark
Jan 29, 1947 — Nov 27, 2025
The world got a lot more interesting the day Dean was born. He lived life exactly the way he wanted—off the beaten path, always on beat, and entirely on his own terms. Dean Raymond Clark entered the world on January 29, 1947, in Bryan, Ohio, to Mary and Lewis Clark, and from that moment on he was fueled by curiosity, individuality, and a spark that never dimmed. He passed on November 27, 2025, and the world lost one of its most colorful characters.
Dean had passions for days: dancing, reading, fishing, roller skating, grilling, movie theater adventures, exploring ideas far beyond conventional views, and proudly celebrating when his Chicago teams—especially the Blackhawks and the White Sox—won. And, of course, he cheered just as loudly when the Bears lost.
Age never slowed him down. He loved surprising people: he won "Guess My Age" contests more times than he'd admit, ran his first 10K in his 50s, took up swing dancing soon after, and dove headfirst into every kid and grandkid Nerf gun battle. He leaves behind the people who adored him most and will carry his stories forward: Elijah Clark, Wendi (Eddie) McEneany, Lily (Frankie) Galang (his favorite), Devan Clark, and his grandchildren Evin, Ava, EJ (perhaps his real favorite), Arya, and Adalyn.
Dean had a gift for turning traditions into adventures—like transforming gift-giving into epic games of hide-and-seek or elaborate treasure hunts. He spun the quirkiest tales about a dog, a cat, and a mouse who became best friends and took on the world together. And he always—always—hit the dance floor like no one was watching.
People loved him for his humor, his stories, and the way he made everyone feel at ease. He was self-taught and forever learning—always searching for new ideas, homeopathic remedies, and whatever might exist beyond our perception.
He will be missed more than words can say. The world is a little quieter without him, but he left us with the courage to embrace the unexpected—and to dance our way through it.
