David H. Seiberling, 84, of Evanston, Illinois, died peacefully at his home on August 24, surrounded by family. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shannon; his sons, John (Denise) Seiberling and Karl (Didi) Seiberling; his daughter, Jane (David) Seiberling; his brother, Steven (Marti) Seiberling; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three siblings.

David grew up in Joliet, Illinois, and earned a B.A. from the University of Illinois and an M.A. in social service administration from the University of Chicago. He continued with post-graduate studies and specialized in psychiatric social work. He was employed by several social service agencies and established his own private counseling practice, which he continued for 40 years.

David had a strong sense of commitment to both his own family and his community and was active in Democratic Party politics and labor union matters. In addition, he enjoyed a wide array of interests including hunting and fishing, camping and sailing, motorcycles, blues music, and comic book and book collecting.

The family is planning a memorial service in the near future.
