Obituary

Daniel Lee St.Aubin, known affectionately as Dan to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2024, at the age of 66 in Chicago, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family. Born on June 14, 1957, in Kankakee, Illinois, Dan grew up to be a man of considerable intellect, warm generosity, and creative spirit that touched the lives of all who knew him.

Dan served his country with pride as a Navy veteran before embarking on a successful career as an engineer. His analytical mind and problem-solving abilities were not only assets in his profession but also in the countless projects he undertook. Dan's dedication to his family was evident through his choice to become a stay-at-home dad, a role he embraced with love and enthusiasm. He imparted wisdom and kindness to his children, leaving an indelible mark on their lives.

Family was the cornerstone of Dan's world. He shared his life with his beloved family members, who cherished him dearly: his wife of 43 years Cheryl St.Aubin, his son James St.Aubin, his daughter Ashley St.Aubin (Alberto Corona), his grandson Theodore Corona, his sister, LuAnn (Mike) Scudder, and his mother, Inez St.Aubin, all surviving. Each family member carries forward the legacy of love, strength, and integrity that Dan embodied. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry St.Aubin. Dan's role as a family man extended beyond the walls of his home and into the hearts of all who experienced his warmth and unwavering support.

In the community, Dan was a mentor and a guiding force as a soccer coach, where his passion for the sport and his dedication to teamwork and fair play left a lasting impact on many young lives. Dan's ability to inspire and motivate his players was a testament to his character and his understanding of the importance of investing in the next generation.

Dan's interests were as varied as they were rich. A master in the kitchen, known for his culinary experiments and delicious meals that brought his family and friends together around the table. Fishing provided a peaceful escape, quality time with his children, and an opportunity to enjoy nature's beauty. Additionally, Dan held a black belt in Wado Ryu karate, a discipline he pursued that reflected his philosophy of balance and respect in all aspects of life.

Known for his generosity, Dan regularly went out of his way to help others, whether through offering thoughtful advice or rolling up his sleeves to assist with a project. His inventive mind never ceased to find unique solutions to complex problems, and his passion for life was evident in everything he did. Dan's creative talents were not only visible in his professional achievements but also in the beautiful life moments he crafted for his family.

As we bid farewell to Daniel Lee St.Aubin, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love.
