Cody James
Houlihan
Dec 23, 1993 — Jul 7, 2024
Cody James Houlihan, known affectionately to all as Cody, was a beacon of joy and laughter, who lived his life with a spirit as bright and infectious as his humor. Born on December 23, 1993, in the heart of Oak Lawn, Illinois, Cody's journey through life was a whirlwind of wit, warmth, and the kind of genuine companionship that left an indelible mark on the hearts of those lucky enough to know him.
On July 7, 2024, at the age of 30, Cody took his final bow in Crest Hill, Illinois, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter that will echo through time. Cody's years were filled with the sounds of video game victories and car karaoke, a testament to his love for music and gaming. He was the life of every party and the silent hero in times of need, providing a listening ear and a shoulder to lean on. His humor was as much a part of him as his generous spirit, and his ability to turn a room full of frowns upside down was nothing short of magical.
Cody was the cherished son of Joanne and her husband Jerry, his stepfather . Cody's siblings, TJ, Breanna (Jeff), and Brittney (Matt), knew him as the brother who could always elicit a giggle, even on the gloomiest of days. His three nieces were the apples of his eye, and he reveled in his role as the fun uncle, the purveyor of tickles. Though he was preceded in death by his father Tom, his grandparents, and uncles, Cody's spirit carried the torch of their memories, illuminating the paths of those he left behind. His family was vast, not just in blood but in bonds, with a village of caring aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends who all shared in the joy of having Cody in their lives. Cody's heart was as open as his door, always welcoming to any creature in need of care. Children and animals alike were drawn to his gentle nature, finding in him a safe haven and an endless source of affection. His laughter was the soundtrack to many a family gathering, and his jokes, as corny as they sometimes were, never failed to bring a smile. To say Cody was funny would be an understatement; he was a one-man comedy show with the ability to find humor in the mundane and to share it in a way that felt like a warm hug. Spirited in every sense of the word, his energy was a force to be reckoned with, a whirlwind of positivity that swept up all in its path. Above all, Cody was loving, with a heart so vast it seemed to know no bounds.
Cody's life was a reminder that every day is an opportunity to make someone laugh, to lend an ear, and to spread a little kindness. He didn't just walk through life; he danced, he sang, he joked, and he loved with every step. Though Cody's final curtain call came much too soon, the memories of his laughter, his warmth, and his unwavering spirit will continue to inspire and comfort all who were privileged to be part of his audience.
Cody James Houlihan may have left the stage, but the echo of his laughter will resonate forever in the hearts of those he touched. And so, as Cody would have wanted, let's not say goodbye but rather, "Catch you on the flip side," knowing full well that his spirit will be there, cracking jokes and spreading joy for eternity.
