Christina Kay
Jaxen
Nov 18, 1979 — Jan 2, 2024
Christina Kay Holmes Jaxen, known affectionately as Chris to her friends and family, passed away on January 2, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois, after a brave battle with stomach cancer. Born on November 18, 1979, in Orrville, Ohio, Christina's life was marked by her loving nature, courage in the face of adversity, and an unwavering sense of optimism. Her journey through life was one of meaningful connections and adventurous exploration. She graduated from McKinley High School in Canton, Ohio, and furthered her passion for helping others by obtaining her CNA license in the same city. Her career as a Certified Nursing Assistant found her in several states across the country.
A free spirit at heart, Christina had an enduring love for the ocean. Her adventurous soul led her to travel extensively throughout the United States, experiences that enriched her life and broadened her horizons. Eventually, she found her home in Chicago, Illinois, where she continued to make a positive impact through her work and personal relationships.
Christina's legacy will continue through her mother, Saundra Saum Stewart of South Carolina; her sisters, Sonya Stinnett of Ohio, Amanda Smith of North Carolina, Janae Stewart of Colorado, her children, Serenity, Floyd III, Jasemine, along with two grandchildren.
While her passing leaves a void in the hearts of her loved ones, Christina's memory will be treasured by her extended family, including many aunts, uncles, and cousins. A special mention is reserved for her cousin, Michelle Cunningham Fields, who shared a bond with Christina that transcended cousinship, becoming more akin to sisters in their closeness and mutual support.
Christina's life was a testament to her ability to love unconditionally and to approach each day with courage. Her optimistic outlook remained unshaken, even during her most challenging times.
Sadly, Christina was preceded in death by her grandparents, Ralph Richard Saum and Janet Linkous Saum, Robert Edward Holmes (and his wife Louise), her father, James Frederick Holmes, and her cousin, Kevin Michael Visher. Their memories and the values they instilled in Christina became a part of her enduring spirit.
In celebrating Christina's life, we remember a woman who was the epitome of strength, her laughter, her generous heart, and her ability to see the positive in every situation.
As we bid farewell to Christina, we take solace in knowing that her love will continue through all of us. Her light, though no longer present in this world, will forever shine brightly in the hearts of those who knew her.
