Charles Dennis Russell, affectionately known as Dennis to his friends and family, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones on February 23, 2026, at the age of 65 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Olympia Fields, Illinois, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Chicago, Illinois, on February 3, 1961, Dennis's zest for life and the warmth of his personality left an indelible mark on all who knew him.

Dennis's early years in Chicago laid the foundation for a life characterized by love, generosity, and a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures. He was a devoted brother to Christina Russell, (Don) of FL, Hope Schaufel, (Marty) of IL, Ronald Russell, (late wife, Julie) of WI, Robert Russell, (Georgina) of IL, and Norman Russell of FL. Dennis's spirit of kinship and loyalty extended to every branch of his family tree, and he was a beacon of guidance and support to his siblings.

In his own family, Dennis was a cherished father to his son, Dennis Russell, (Gloria) of IL, and his daughters, Christy Lynn Solis, (Jaime) of IL and Erin of FL. His role as a grandfather to Jocelyn, Jesenia, Anthony, Skyler, Hailey, and Destin was one he embraced, and the birth of his great-grandchild, Vincent, added a new layer of joy to his life. Dennis was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Russell, who was a true partner in every sense of the word, his dear parents, Thomas Charles Russell and Billie Rose Russell, and his siblings, Thomas Russell and Bonita Russell.

Dennis's life was a tapestry woven with countless threads of friendship, camaraderie, and love. His friends were his extended family, and he cherished the time spent watching sports, sharing stories, and enjoying a few beers in good company. His laughter was infectious, his advice sound, and his presence a comfort to many.

Those who had the privilege of knowing Dennis would describe him as loving, kind, and friendly. He approached life with an open heart. His legacy is one of unwavering kindness and a reminder to all to lead with love.

As we bid farewell to Dennis, we celebrate a life lived to the fullest, a journey marked by an unrelenting commitment to family, friends, and the pursuit of happiness. His memory will continue to inspire and guide us, and his spirit will forever be a part of the lives he touched.

Dennis's departure from this world leaves a void that cannot be filled, but his family takes solace in the knowledge that his was a life well-lived, brimming with moments of joy, laughter, and an abundance of love. As we reflect on the time we were privileged to share with him, we find comfort in our cherished memories and the enduring impact he had on us all. Charles Dennis Russell will be deeply missed, but his legacy will continue to resonate for generations to come.
