Obituary

Candice Phoenix (née Nicholson) passed way peacefully at the age of 75 on November 13, 2024, in Chicago, Illinois. Born on January 14, 1949, Candice was known for her passion, ambition, humor, charm and unconditional love. She dedicated many years to a successful career in hotel sales, catering management and event planning, working with notable establishments such as Omni Morton, Best Western, Spiaggia, Sheridan Hotel Chicago, Taylor Party Rental, Inter-Track Partners and, later in her career, became a beloved caregiver at Home Instead Senior Care. Candice was a gifted student, attending G.F. Nixon School in Westchester, Illinois, followed by high school at Proviso West in Hillside, Illinois, and York in Elmhurst, Illinois. She furthered her education with a degree from Triton College in River Grove, Illinois. Beyond her professional life, Candice was deeply involved in her community and was an active member of the Westchester Community Church. Her hobbies included reading, writing, traveling, laughing, telling fantastic stories, giving gifts, and creating special memories for loved ones.

Candice is survived by her sons, Dax and Dakin; sister, Penni and brother-in-law, Terry; sister-in-law, Rosann; son-in-law Scott; granddaughter, Piper; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Grace Evelyn; father, Clement Joseph; brother, James; and ex-husbands Logan Dugaw and George Phoenix.

Candice's life was marked by her zest for life, her commitment to her career, and her devotion to her family, friends, neighbors and community. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who had the pleasure to know her.
