Beryl I. Puckering, affectionately known by friends and family as Bill or Billie, passed away at 89 years old from natural causes on April 29, 2021, at Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, IL. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Born in Port Douglas, North Queensland, Australia, on October 11, 1931, Bill emigrated to the USA with her mother Annie in 1952 to live with her sister Alice Solak and family in Chicago and Riverdale, IL. She was employed by International Harvester (Navistar) as a secretary at World Headquarters in Chicago for several decades. She was a longtime member of Ivanhoe United Methodist Church (Riverdale) and in later years, the First United Methodist Church of Hammond, IN.  Bill was preceded in death by her parents, Annie and Harry Puckering who left Yorkshire, England to settle on the northeast coast of Australia after The Great War. She was also preceded in death by her sister Alice Solak and her brother-in-law Stanley Solak.  Bill was a gentle soul who enjoyed gardening, ginger chews, and baking holiday pies and broken glass cake. She was a lover of all animals, including cats, Cocker Spaniels, and Boston Terriers.   Bill is survived by niece Anne Solak-Tennant (David); nephews Greg Solak (Louise) and Mark Solak (Roseann); great nieces Rhiannon Tennant-Crabb (Dan) and Alexis Solak; great nephews Matthew, Michael and Nick Solak (Roxanne); and many friends across the pond in England and Australia.
