Ms. Bernadette D. Shen (沈德敏)of Chicago, formally of Shanghai, China, passed away on Oct. 26, 2022, at the age of 80.

Bernadette was born July 6, 1942 in Shanghai, China. She graduated from Shanghai No.3 Girls High School in 1961. Bernadette immigrated to the United States in 1985. Less than two years she from St. Louis moved to Chicago. She worked at McDonald's for 26 years. She was married and then divorced.

In the end of 2013 Bernadette had uterine cancer and undergone cancer surgery and treatments. In July 2021 she had pulmonary embolism. In the 2022 her cancer was spreading quickly until she died. Within a year she fell down at home twice and was unable to stand up, be sent to the Hospital and Rehabs repeatedly.

Mr. Gregory Black is Bernadette's best friend for more than 20 years. He truly did his best to help Bernadette for everything. During her illness, he was focusing on her medical treatment and diet by daily to hourly. He keeps helping Bernadette before and after. Appreciate!

Bernadette had no biological children.

Eldest brother: Fr. Ignatius Shen (沈德中 神父)

Elder sister: Theresa D. F. Shen (沈德芳)(July.14, 1938 ~ Jun. 19, 2018)

Elder brother: Joseph Shen (沈德威)

Nephew: Allen Shen (沈婴)

Niece: Min Shen (沈敏)(in Shanghai, China)

Respect Bernadette's wishes to cremate the remains and no farewell ceremony. Let us pray: May God bless Ms. Bernadette D. Shen in peace.

She'll be buried with her parents at "Catholic Resurrection Cemetery in St. Louis."

沈德敏女士 1942 年 7 月 6 日出生于中国上海。1961 年毕业于上海市第三女 子中学。1985 年她移居美国。之后不到两年,她从圣路易斯搬迁到芝加哥生 活,她在麦当劳店工作了 26 年。她在上海结婚,然后在美国离婚。

2013 年底,沈德敏女士患有子宫癌,经历了癌症手术和治疗。2021 年 7 月, 她患有肺栓塞。 在 2022 年中期,她的癌症复发并迅速扩散,导致她健康状 况日趋虚弱而离世。近一年之内,她在家摔倒过两次自己无法起身,都被挚 友发现,多次及时送她去医院救治,然后转入康复中心。

Mr. Gregory Black 是沈德敏女士的挚友,他俩相识 20 多年了,他确实帮助她 解决生活中各种所需,给予她温暖关爱和依靠。尤其在她患病期间,他全权 负责她的就医和饮食起居。他继续在帮助她处理身后事宜。非常感谢!
