Barbara Lynn Winblad, née Gongol, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 22nd, 2025 at 83 years of age. She will be greatly missed by her daughter Sarah, her grandchild Forest, and her cousins Eddie, Mary Beth, Susie, and Kevin (deceased).

A graduate of Loyola University of Chicago, and a longtime resident of the city of Chicago, she loved city life and the diversity it brings. Barbara was a believer in the value of citizenship and an upholder of civic engagement, and as such, was an activist. She led a life steeped in politics and cherished making the trip to the polling place to vote. She never missed a primary or an election.

Barbara was passionately interested in nature and an advocate for its healthy preservation, of gardening, and had a green thumb. She was a kind-hearted protector and advocate for animals.
