Barbara M. Buhrmann (Partington), affectionately known to many as Barb, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2026, in Aurora, IL, due to complications of breast cancer. Born on June 25, 1945, in Nanticoke, PA, Barb's journey through life was marked by an unwavering spirit of resilience and kindness that touched the lives of everyone she encountered.
Barb's early years were spent in the close-knit communities of Pennsylvania, where her personality began to take shape. She moved to Chicago, IL with her family when she was 11. She attended Senn High School. Barb entered the workforce, beginning what would be a long and remarkable career at Fel Pro Inc. Starting as a punch press operator making automotive gaskets, her tenacity and talent saw her rise through the ranks to become the company's first female sales representative. Barb's name became synonymous with integrity and professionalism in the industry, earning her well-deserved respect over her 35-year tenure with the company. Even after her retirement from Fel Pro, Barb's zeal for life and desire to contribute to society did not wane. She found a new calling in delivering medical supplies for home care, a role she found both fulfilling and enjoyable.
Outside of her professional life, Barb was a devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her loving daughters, Karla (Howard) Weiner and Ronni (Joseph) Tholl; her cherished grandchildren, Jillian, Cassandra, and Zachary; and her adored great-grandchildren, Victoria and CJ. Additionally, she leaves behind her caring sister, Edie (Jim) Dunn, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and many dear friends who will miss her deeply.
She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Buhrmann, her beloved parents Alfred and Kathleen (Prochaska) Partington, five brothers Joseph, Alfred, Charles, Raymond and Jesse, a sister Ruth.
Barb's life was a tapestry woven with passions and pursuits that brought joy not only to herself but also to others. She found solace in the pages of a good book, pleasure in the art of cooking, and companionship in the affection of her pets. Her love extended beyond her family to all those who had the privilege of knowing her, and her generosity knew no bounds.
The words that best describe Barb are loving, generous, and courageous. Throughout her battle with breast cancer, she exemplified courage, facing each day with strength. Barb's legacy is one of love and determination, and her memory will be cherished in the hearts of those she has left behind.
Barb Buhrmann's life story is a testament to the power of perseverance and the impact one individual can have on the world around them. As we bid farewell to this remarkable woman, we take comfort in knowing that her spirit will continue to guide and inspire us. Her family is eternally grateful for the time they shared with her and the lessons she imparted. Barb's journey on earth has ended, but her story will be told for generations to come.
