Barbara Hope Bezold (nee Godenius), age 73, of Chicago, IL passed away Monday, April 7, 2025 at home, following a multi-year battle with Alzheimer's. Born October 17, 1951, in Elmhurst, IL, she was the eldest daughter of the late Ralph and Grace Godenius.

Barbara loved dancing, riding her bicycle, taking long walks, painting, drawing, and playing Scrabble. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and vacationing in the Northwoods of Wisconsin. She loved children and gravitated towards the babies and toddlers at every holiday or birthday party.

Barbara enjoyed a frugal lifestyle, finding delight in simple joys like neighborhood walks and gathering lilacs. She was always content and optimistic, seeing the silver lining and opportunity in every situation. She was exceptionally patient and possessed a playful sense of humor. A true creative, Barbara constantly channeled her artistic energy into diverse projects, from comic strips and photo collages to detailed dioramas and miniature outfits for dolls.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Grace; her husband, Barry; her brother, Ralph; and her niece, Aubrey.

She is survived by her daughter, Jessica and husband Scott; sons, Karl and Micah; grandchildren, Andrew and Anastasia; sisters, Miriam and Elsa; brothers, James and Gene; brother in law, Chuck and wife Jenny; sister in law, Janis; nieces and nephews, Diana, William, Nicole, Eileen, Janet, Eric, and Frank.
