Obituary

Antoinette Michelle Dunson was born on May 31, 1963, in Chicago Illinois to Huey Percy Williams 'Peter' and Yvonne Dunson. She was their middle child. She was raised on the Southside and attended Harlan and Waller High School (currently named Lincoln Park). Later she attended Loyola University and Truman college.

Antoinette dedicated herself to Jehovah by water baptism in 1975 on 79th and Ashland. She was 11 1/2 years old. She Auxiliary Pioneered throughout the years. Then, she became a Regular Pioneer in 1999 and attended Pioneer School in 2000. She recently rejoined the Pioneer List on August 1, 2021, and attended Pioneer School (July 11-16, 2022), via zoom. She served as a Regular Pioneer until she passed.

On December 7, 1983, she gave birth to a girl, Chiquita Giovanni Dunson. Affectionately nicknamed Gigi. From that moment she became a devoted mother. Antoinette prioritized all her efforts into being Gigi's mother. The pair were inseparable. When Gigi was nine Antoinette was left to raise her as a single parent. She did everything she could to make sure Gigi would not want for anything. She showered her daughter with tons of love and attention to feel the void of only having one parent present. Antoinette and Gigi were joint at the hip. They were everything to each other, like Best Friends. Some people thought they were sisters because of the undeniable close bond they shared. As a testimony to her parenting Gigi went on to become an honor student throughout her academic career (elementary school through college). Antoinette also made sure she was a cultured individual. There was no lack of activities for this kid, and her mom threw her parties and took her on vacations. Chiquita has grown into a successful adult and serves as a Regular Pioneer in the Christian Congregation. Antoinette was the best MOM a kid could ask for.

Throughout the years, Antoinette's secular activities included, but were not limited to, being a homemaker, a teacher's aide, working at the main post office downtown, working in nursing for several years (Ravenswood Hospital and Continental Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center), running a home daycare, and selling medical benefit packages. She worked at Chiquita's Boutique for a couple of years to support her daughter's dream. It doesn't matter how you slice it up, Antoinette was a caretaker at heart. Being a giving person, she put back on that Nurses Hat and returned to Private Duty. She was the caretaker for many friends in and out of the congregation. Since her last private duty client eight years ago, she has not worked secularly. She went on to devote that spare time to the Ministry.

Antoinette warmly welcomed her niece into her household without any hesitation. Kiara came to live with her and Chiquita when she was 5 1/2 years old. She had such a strong love for Kiara and became her legal guardian. She would tell everyone that she had two daughters now. The same devotion Antoinette had for her own daughter was the same for her niece Kiara. She would do any and everything for Kiara. Kiara went on to have great academic success and a solid upbringing, keeping Jehovah and the ministry as first priority. She was raised having many activities and vacations as well. Kiara is a successful adult and continues to serve Jehovah faithfully. She lived with Antoinette and Chiquita until she got married. Kiara and her husband are both faithful Pioneer servants of Jehovah. This was a strong woman and head of our household.

Antoinette was rich in spirit and generosity. She welcomed many in her home. Her home was a home to everyone who would visit. Throughout the years her nieces and nephews lived with her along with many family members, friends, and congregation members. She was always willing to extend a helping hand. She would give you the shirt off her back and the last dollar she had. She was a fun person that loved her family and people. She truly was easy-going and easy to get along with. She was one of the backbones to and a constant support to her family, friends, neighbors, and the Christian Congregation.

Antoinette died on July 31, 2023, with her daughter present. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Joyce Dunson, Leroy and Marjorie Williams. Her parents, Peter, and Yvonne. Her aunts, Carole Williams (footie) and Cachita Martin. Her uncles, Sam, and Larry Williams and nephew David White. Antoinette leaves to cherish her memory, her only child, Chiquita Dunson. Her niece/daughter Kiara Colas (Philip). Five siblings David (Gwen), Yolanda, Sylvia, Vincent Dunson, and Valerie Summerize. Her aunts, her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, family members, friends, the Christian congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and her beloved grand-dog, Kobe who brought her so much happiness within the last eleven months and he was glued to her lap.
