Anthony Wayne
Armstrong
Apr 26, 1966 — Sep 27, 2024
Anthony Wayne Armstrong, known affectionately to friends and family as Tony, passed away peacefully on September 27, 2024, in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, at the age of 58. Born on April 26, 1966, to the late Raymond Armstrong and Mozella Lacey, Tony's life was a testament to the power of kindness and community spirit.
Tony grew up in Chicago, the youngest of three brothers. He was a beacon of love and selflessness, creating a legacy that echoed the warmth of his parents. His siblings, Raymond J. Armstrong, the eldest, and Walter Armstrong, his middle brother, fondly remember Tony as the fun and kind person with no boring moments in life.
Though his father, Raymond, and mother, Mozella, preceded him in death, the values they instilled in him shone brightly throughout his life.
The joy of Uncle Tony's presence will be deeply missed by his adoring nieces, nephews and cousins: Malinda Edwards, Lanaia Estrella, Anitka McGregory, Raymond Armstrong Jr., Arturo Armstrong, Josimar Molinar and Miles Edwards-Dyson. His fun-loving nature and spirit will also be remembered by his aunt, Sandra Gold, his mother's best friend and daughter Joyce Fonville and Nicole Muhammed. His passing leaves a void that will be felt by the countless friends he made throughout his lifetime—a testament to his belief that friendship was the greatest gift one could give and receive.
Tony's life was marked by an unwavering commitment to service. His kindness was not merely an attribute but a calling that he answered every day. He touched the lives of many within his local community, embodying the words of Mother Teresa: "Not all of us can do great things. But we can do small things with great love." Tony lived by this creed, his every action rooted in love and generosity.
Those who knew Tony described him as the epitome of loving, kind, and generous. He was a friend to anyone he met, regardless of their walk of life, and he had an uncanny ability to make each person feel valued and important. His legacy is not one of material possession but of rich, unquantifiable love and countless acts of kindness.
The world was undoubtedly a better place for having Tony in it. His memory will continue to inspire those who knew him to live with compassion and to extend a hand of friendship to all.
As we bid farewell to Anthony Wayne Armstrong, we celebrate a life beautifully lived and a heart generously shared. Tony's story does not end with his passing, for his spirit lives on in every life he touched and every act of kindness he inspired. May we honor his memory by living as he did—with great love in all the small things.
