Anna Lazarich, 93, of Niles, Illinois, passed away peacefully April 24, 2022. Anna was born in 1928 in Croatia (formerly Yugoslavia), Island of Cres and immigrated to Chicago in 1955. She was preceded in death by her beloved spouse of 29 years, John Lazarich, and her brother, John Velcich. She will be leaving behind her cherished children, Pamela, Daniel and his wife, Susan, and John and his wife, Sherry; as well as her loving grandchildren, John, Sarah, and Anthony Lazarich, and her nephews, Sean and Keith Velcich, and niece, Penelope. Anna was a valuable member at Holy Cross Hospital for 15 years and was a proud advocate for the Focolare Movement. She strived to create an evermore caring world that respects and values diversity. Anna was known as Nonna by all, not just her grandchildren - and, in true grandmotherly fashion, loved to give gifts of knitted scarves, blankets, slippers, and tins of cookies to anyone visiting her home. She was always the first to comment on the simple joys of life, whether it be a good cup of coffee, a beautiful flower, or the smile on her grandchildren's faces. Flowers and plants brought her pure joy, tending and talking to them (which according to Anna was the most important). Being surrounded by beautiful blooms always made her day brighter. Anna was consistently the life of the party, with a big, beautiful laugh (and sometimes snort!) that could get anyone to laugh along with her. It was hard not to have fun with Nonna around. She was deeply loved, and will be dearly missed by everyone who knew her.
