Obituary

Andrew de la Llata, a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle, passed away in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois, on October 31, 2023. Born on February 24, 1957, Andrew lived a life full of generosity, intelligence, and an unwavering love for his family, pets and his city.

Andrew was a proud Chicagoan, a city that he loved as much as it loved him back. He was known for his encyclopedic knowledge of the city's history, architecture, and culture. He was a true ambassador of the Windy City, always ready to share its stories and secrets with anyone willing to listen. His love for the outdoors was evident in his frequent camping trips, where he would often be found reading a book by the campfire, the sounds of classic rock playing in the background.

His love for reading was only surpassed by his love for learning. Andrew was a man of great intelligence, always eager to engage in meaningful conversations and debates. His generous spirit was evident in the countless acts of kindness he extended to those around him, always going out of his way to help others, especially when receiving gifts from his secret treasure chest.

Andrew is survived by his daughter, Kristina de la Llata; his grandchildren, Kayla and Johnathan Lee; his sisters, Rosa and Dora de la Llata; and his nieces and nephews, Dan, Lilia, Michelle, Erica, Fidel, Lissette and Manuel; and his beloved fur babies, Sox and Swiper.

His legacy will forever be etched in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. As we mourn the loss of Andrew, we also celebrate his life, a life that was filled with love, laughter, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.

As we say our final goodbyes, we remember Andrew not with sadness, but with gratitude for his love, his wisdom, and his enduring spirit. His life was a journey of love, knowledge, and generosity. He was a man who lived his life to the fullest, never taking a single moment for granted. His memory will continue to inspire us, reminding us of the importance of love and family.
