Amy
Mieding
Oct 26, 1973 — May 6, 2026
The soul of our beloved Amy Mieding set free on May 6, 2026, in Chicago, Illinois among her loved ones after a courageous, lifelong battle with type 1 diabetes, ultimately conceding to kidney failure. Amy will be missed deeply by her large, loving family led by her mother Judy Mieding: sisters Christi Hausmann (Eric Hausmann), Holly Roloff, and Merry Stein (Andy Stein); brothers Mickey Mieding and Will Mieding; nieces Madison Hausmann, Lilly Roloff, and Sylvan Mieding; and nephews Evan Hausmann, Ryan Stein, and Josh Stein. Amy is preceded in death by her late father Kent Mieding and big brother Matt Mieding (Betsy Mieding).
Born on October 26, 1973, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Amy enjoyed competition from the start. College became a playground for her pool skills and was where she discovered a passion for the field of Human Resources (HR). Amy earned a Bachelor of Arts in HR and Management from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later completed her Master of Business Administration in HR from DePaul University.
Professionally, Amy was a transformational and enthusiastic HR professional with strong business acumen and multi-site, multi-state experience across a broad range of HR generalist functions. She was known for her resourcefulness, versatility, and her ability to handle rapid change and get things done quickly. Amy led with clarity, confidence, and conviction. Outside of work, Amy earned recognition and respect while playing in Chicago's competitive pool leagues. She cherished her friends and family, and made sure they knew it. Her strength of character and resilience will forever be unmatched.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to extended family members and friends who traveled from near and far to celebrate and support Amy in her final days—your presence was so meaningful. Private memorial services were held with immediate family. Memorial contributions may be made in Amy's honor to Breakthrough T1D (formerly JDRF).
