Born on April 29, 1989, in Chicago, Alexander spent his life in the city he called home. He was the loving son of Amy Ficht, brother of Brian Ficht, partner of Kathryn Chandoha, and devoted father of Julius and Annabella Ficht. His children were at the center of his life, and his love for them was deep and enduring.
Alexander will be remembered by his mother, Amy; his brother, Brian; his children, Julius and Annabella Ficht; his partner, Kathryn Chandoha; Kathryn’s parents, Alexandre and Marta Chandoha; his godparents, Fernando and Esperanza Benavides; his aunts and uncles, Carol (Mike), Bob (Pat), Dawn, Marianne (Frank), Charlie, Jeff, Linda, Jody (Reina), Cindy, and Jenny; and his cousins, Joey (Erika), Nicole (Doug), Bobby (Toni), Johnny (Amanda), Valerie (Luis), Angela, Vinny, Freddie (Ashley), and Tanya (Kyle).
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert and Ranee Ficht; his uncles and aunts, Fred Ramos, Jeff Ficht, and Christine Ficht; his surrogate father, Nedzad “Nacho” Gurzakovic; and Adrian “Dros” Perez.
Those who knew Alexander knew someone who was there when needed. Though reserved, he shared his sense of humor with those he allowed close to him. He was known as a fun person who remained positive through difficult times, offered thoughtful advice, and encouraged others to do better. He was also deeply protective of Julius and Annabella.
Alexander enjoyed sports and was an avid fan of the Chicago Bears, Chicago Cubs, and Chicago Bulls. He enjoyed watching games with friends, playing basketball, and gaming. He was also fondly remembered as “Grandma and Grandpa’s boy,” a reflection of a special bond that remained an important part of his life and memory.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the GoFundMe in support of his children.
May Alexander rest in peace.
