Albert James
Thomas
May 2, 1935 — Jul 18, 2023
Albert James Thomas grew up with a large loving family and a tightly knit community in Gregory, Arkansas. He was the son of Qutee and Lenora Thomas. During his life journey, Albert served in the military with the US Army, infantry division. He looked back upon this period of his life with immense pride. Albert lived a life full of optimism, joy, and devotion to his family, friends, and community. He was a man of many talents and interests, and above all else, Albert was a man of service. He was selfless and generous, always putting the needs of others before his. Friends and family described him as a stoic and thoughtful man, who was quick to provide supportive advice and a warm smile. Albert's quiet nature was infectious, and he had a knack for making people feel special and valued.
His life took a romantic turn when he proposed to Louise (Pickett) Thomas during their meetings as they lived in the same building complex. This sparked a series of adventures for the couple that began in Arkansas and continued in Mississippi, before finally settling in Chicago, where they raised their children. Upon moving to Chicago, Albert discovered a new passion for Major League Baseball (MLB) and the Chicago Cubs.
Albert passed away peacefully on July 18, surrounded by his adoring family – his beloved wife Louise, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Albert is survived by his wife Louise (Pickett); children, Ray (Dorothy), Rochelle, Kenneth, Darnell, Arnell (James deceased), Adrienne, and Lamount (Sonya); siblings, Dolly, Pearl, James (deceased), Freddy (Alice), Richard (deceased), Qutee (Mabel), Vincent (Sabrina). It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to Albert, but we take comfort in knowing that his spirit will continue to live on through his family, and the countless lives he touched.
