Dr. Reid Schwartz, of Chicago, passed away suddenly on May 20, 2022, aged 74. Reid was born on January 29, 1948, in Chicago, to Delle and Alfred Schwartz. He attended the University of Chicago, completing a PhD in Educational Psychology. It was while working at The Orthogenic School that he met his wife Mary, who also worked as a counsellor there. Mary and Reid were married on June 29, 1973 and had two sons, Arman and Josh, raising their family in Olympia Fields. In his career as a clinical psychologist, Reid continued to pursue research in neuropsychology, and was especially committed to helping children and young people. Reid was a man of great energy and enthusiasm, endlessly engaged with books and music, food and art, always excited to learn something new about the world. He threw himself into his interests with passionate commitment. Once a competitive golfer, he took up track cycling in his mid-40s, winning a Masters Worlds Championship in 2010 as well as Masters US National Championships, and establishing Masters US and World Records in 2018. Most recently, he had taken up photography, capturing beautiful images of wildlife and art. He also enjoyed time with family—cycling and dog-walking with Mary, making everyone impeccable coffee, and going to museums, concerts, farmer's markets, and restaurants together. Reid was a constant source of support and encouragement to everyone around him. He will be sorely missed. He is survived by his wife Mary, sons Arman (Heather) and Josh (Leigh), and sister Karen.
