Lily (Sanchez) Mendez, age 78, of Carpentersville passed away peacefully at home with family by her side on Friday, June 22, 2018. Lily was born in Thomas Town, Texas, on June 17, 1940, she was the eldest child of Pedro and Petra (Flores) Sanchez. When Lily was young, the Sanchez family relocated to Saginaw, Michigan where Lily and her five siblings grew up. Lily eventually settled in Illinois to raise her family. Lily's life was centered on her faith and her greatest love was for her family and for her Pomeranian, Bear, who was her loyal and loving companion for the last 12 years. Lily is lovingly remembered, missed and survived by her five children; Betty (Tony) of Kankakee, Sylvia (Jim) of Sycamore, Beatrice (Rudy) of San Antonio, TX, Martin Jr. (Sherry) of Addison and Frank of East Dundee, four siblings; Theresa (Randy), Angie, David (Barb) and Jesse (Linda); a sister-in-law Vickie, widow of Lily's late brother Pete, eight grandchildren; Wally, Jonathan (Judy), Daniel (Cassi), Jessica (John), Jamie (Chris), Rudy (Sarah), Briana and Christine, nine great-grandchildren; Kyle, Jonathan, John, Owen, Paul, Skylar, Logan, Kaylah and Luke, as well as many other extended family members and dear friends. A Memorial Service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 310 E. Main Street, East Dundee, IL 60118, on Friday, June 29, 2018. Family and friends are invited to begin gathering at the church at 2 pm. The memorial service will be held at 3 pm. Immediately following the service, all in attendance are invited to stay for fellowship and a meal.
